Cindy McCreery | University of Sydney
How hard/useful can it be? Setting up an online international history conference and new research network
In this talk Cindy McCreery will discuss the rationale for and design of both an online international conference and a new research network. The conference is ‘Going Platinum: Australian responses to the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, 1952-2022’ and the network is ‘Modern Monarchy in Global Perspective’. This conference will form the first major activity of the new research network, which aims to bring together researchers and projects that examine monarchy in the period c.1800 to the present, with a particular focus on views from the ‘Global South’. After a brief overview of the steps and challenges involved in setting up these projects, Cindy will reflect on the opportunities which online conferences and research networks offer historians both at the University of Sydney and beyond.
